This sculpture, entitled "The Greatness of Islam", is a magnificent example of Salvador Dalí's creative universe, where the dreamlike and the irrational are translated into organic, disturbing and deeply symbolic forms. Although Dalí was an artist marked by Catholicism and Christian spirituality, he also showed at different times a lively interest in other cultures and religions, attracted by their aesthetic and evocative dimension.
Dalí, the greatest exponent of Spanish surrealism, studied at the San Fernando Academy in Madrid and soon became involved with the Parisian avant-garde, where he met Picasso and the surrealist group. His first exhibition in New York in 1934 consolidated his international projection, making him a key figure in 20th century art.
His work is represented in institutions of worldwide reference, such as the Dalí Theater-Museum in Figueres, the Salvador Dalí Museum in St. Petersburg (Florida), the Reina Sofía Museum in Madrid, the Espace Dalí in Paris and the Dalí Universe in London, underscoring the relevance and prestige of his artistic legacy.
