This pair of praying angels is part of the tradition of devotional sculpture inherited from the late Baroque and in transition to Rococo sensibilities. The figures appear kneeling, with their hands together in an attitude of prayer, a gesture that reinforces their liturgical and contemplative function, originally conceived for altarpieces, chapels or spaces of private devotion.
From the formal point of view, the angels present faces of soft and expressive features, wavy hair treated with naturalism and wings of ample development, rhythmically arranged. The folding of the vestments, still marked by baroque dynamism, shows a greater sweetness and lightness in the forms, a characteristic feature of Spanish sculpture in the first half of the 18th century. The polychrome, although very altered by the passage of time, retains traces of green and reddish tones with applied gilding, common elements in the religious imagery of the time.
