Antonio Palau y Dulcet, bookseller, bibliographer, cultural historian and Spanish cervantista, author since 1919 of the monumental "Manual del librero español e hispanoamericano", shown here in 15 volumes.
In its second edition it consisted of 28 volumes published between 1948 and 1977 and seven volumes of indexes between 1981 and 1987 by Agustín Palau Claveras: alphabetical of titles-subjects, corrections, connections and additions, in total 35 volumes. He used to compile this bibliography the catalogs of antiquarian bookstores to which he was a subscriber. The works he cites are arranged alphabetically by author when known and by title when the work is anonymous. The abbreviated title is indicated, preserving the original spelling, however extravagant it may be, and whatever its language. Also recorded are the size and description of the book, the number of pages, the number of plates, the year of publication, the printer and, in the case of a rare copy, Palau adds an explanatory commentary, as well as the different editions of each work and their characteristics.
