This elegant Dutch pedestal from around 1900 embodies with sobriety the fin-de-siècle taste for refined form and precise craftsmanship. Its slender silhouette is articulated by a turned, rhythmic and well-proportioned shaft.
The tripod base, with curved profiles and firm supports, refers to historical traditions reinterpreted from the late eclecticism of the turn of the century. Far from ornamental excess, it shows a refined aesthetic typical of the bourgeois interiors of the Netherlands around 1900.
