Jean Mich was a Luxembourgish sculptor known mainly for his works with exotic themes. The decorative bust of the Chinese chef Chi-Fan, realized in series, is undoubtedly the most diffused work of this artist found in Luxembourgish private collections. In his time, however, Jean Mich - who had studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris - was one of the Grand Duchy's leading visual artists, representing Luxembourg several times in exhibitions abroad. He moved to France around 1923 and, after his death, fell into oblivion.
