José Antonio Hernández Martín began painting in Zaragoza at the School of Arts and Crafts. In 1967, he settled in Alcoy, where he continued his studies at the San Carlos School of Fine Arts in Valencia, studying under Francisco Lozano and Genaro Lahuerta, among others. In 1986, he moved with his family to Valencia, where he lived and worked until his death. Throughout his career, Hernández Martín participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions, the first of which was held at the Sala Capital in Alcoy in 1974; he later held others in Valencia, Bilbao, Elche, Valladolid, Madrid, and Girona. In 2007, a tribute exhibition titled “Hernández Martín in Morocco” was dedicated to him at the Palacio Ducal de los Borja in Gandía.
