Designed by Philippe Ledoux and originally introduced in 1963, “Napoléon” is one of Hermès’s historically inspired designs. Its composition brings together the main symbols of the First French Empire, such as imperial eagles, military uniforms, decorations, and Napoleon’s characteristic bicorne hat. Five medallions illustrate notable episodes from his life, with his arrival at Notre-Dame for his coronation at the center. The background, decorated with imperial bees, and the combination of orange, ivory, and green accentuate the ornamental richness and graphic refinement of the design.
