Created in 1995, this work documents one of Christo and Jeanne-Claude’s most iconic projects: the wrapping of the Reichstag in Berlin, conceived in 1971 and finally realized between June 24 and July 7, 1995. After more than two decades of negotiations, the installation transformed the historic German Parliament building by covering it with silver fabric, taking on an extraordinary symbolic significance in the context of German reunification. The composition features an aerial view of the wrapped Reichstag, accompanied by a photo card showing the building from another perspective, surrounded by a crowd of visitors. The handwritten signature of Christo and Jeanne-Claude on the postcard adds special interest to the set, which serves as a visual testament to one of the most significant ephemeral installations in contemporary art.
Christo and Jeanne-Claude formed one of the most influential creative duos in 20th-century art, internationally recognized for their ephemeral installations in landscapes, buildings, and public spaces. Among their most notable projects are *Running Fence* (California, 1976), *The Pont Neuf Wrapped* (Paris, 1985), *Wrapped Reichstag* (Berlin, 1995), and *The Gates* (New York, 2005). Their creations transformed the perception of the environment, establishing new relationships between art, architecture, and public space. Their work is represented in institutions such as the National Gallery of Art in Washington and the Centre Pompidou in Paris.
