BID HISTORY

DESCRIPTION

Two Imari-style dishes. Japan, 20th century.
Glazed porcelain.
Measurements: 30 cm in diameter.
Pair of Japanese porcelain dishes, lobed profile, decorated in the Imari style, whose main characteristic is the use of underglaze cobalt blue glaze, combined with other glazes over the glaze, mainly iron red. Imari wares were produced in Japan from the third quarter of the 17th century until 1730-35, although there was a revival of the style during the 19th century. In decorative terms, Imari is very free, with compositions that occupy the entire space of the piece, alternating cartouches and floral compositions in various forms, as seen here.
