DESCRIPTION

Censer. China, Qing dynasty, 19th century.
Hand-carved bamboo. Wooden stand.
Measurements: 21 x 14 x 16 cm (figure); 2 cm (base height).

This Chinese censer takes the form of a mythological animal with clawed feet, horned morphology and robust beak. The hybrid being bellows its powerful howl while raising its head in a ferocious act that denotes its energetic physical strength.
