Artist formed between Valencia, Paris and London, Alex Alemany goes through a first period of abstract experimentation, to finally end up, around 1975, in the magic realism. Between 1975 and 1978 he settled in Madrid, where he alternated social portraits with his surrealist works. Within his production, which reveals his predilection for the human figure, there is a large number of portraits, a genre that he approaches away from the academic concept. He has portrayed Their Majesties the King and Queen of Spain, several members of the Royal Family, university rectors, academics, presidents of provincial councils, mayors, etc., as well as countless private individuals. On the other hand, he was president of the Circle of Fine Arts of Valencia between 1993 and 2004, and in 1998 he was appointed elected member of the Royal Academy of Valencian Culture. He has exhibited his work in Spain, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Venezuela, Mexico and Germany, and is currently represented in private collections and museums.
