Miguel García López has to his credit a wide exhibition trajectory and recognitions. He alternates his professional career with teaching painting in Eivissa and Sant Josep. He considers himself self-taught, learning from classics and moderns to extract from it a personal work. Landscapes, peasants, Ibizan corners and whitewashed walls are some of his themes. Since 1999, when he was finalist for the Art Jove Govern Balear Painting Prize, he has received awards periodically. García López, skilfully handling palette knife and paintbrush, extracts subtle hallmarks of light in landscapes and portraits that lead him to transcend the insular typicalism to investigate the underlying sensory world.
