Castillo de Ygay Gran Reserva Especial 1925 is a wine elaborated under the D.O.Ca. Rioja by the Marqués de Murrieta winery. Peter Moser awarded the highest score, the coveted 100 points, to four vintages of Castillo Ygay: 1925, 1934, 1986 and 2010. Something unique that positions this wine as the Best Gran Reserva in the World and one of the best wines in history. Achieving 100 points in the 1925 and 2010 vintages, currently on sale, indicates that excellence in winemaking is something historical in Marqués de Murrieta and is more alive than ever. The first winery in Rioja lives up to its nomination as Best Winery in the World a few years ago, demonstrating that the highest quality can only be achieved with effort and passion. It repeats in 2020 the feat of achieving the highest score from international critics, positioning a Spanish wine as a benchmark of quality worldwide.

Marqués de Murrieta is one of the Spanish wineries with the longest history. Its origins date back to 1852 when Luciano de Murrieta began trading his wines in the New World. Today, 150 years later, the impressive Ygay estate, with its more than 300 hectares, seems insensitive to the passage of time; but this is not so: the last 20 years have meant a revival in this centenary firm that has returned it to the forefront of attention in Spain and the rest of the world. Murrieta wines come from the 200 hectares of vineyards of the Ygay estate, located at the gates of Logroño, where the winery is also located. In addition to the essential Tempranillo, there are significant quantities of Graciano, Mazuelo and Garnacha Blanca vines on the estate.
