A cartoonist and caricaturist, José Costa trained at the School of Fine Arts in Plama, and after settling in Barcelona he began what would be a long collaboration with the main magazines of the time, where he published caricatures and drawings. He frequented the Els Quatre Gats gathering, published several books of drawings and also collaborated with foreign magazines. After his death, a drawing prize was created in his name, and in 2005 the Consell de Mallorca awarded him its Gold Medal. He is currently represented in the Municipal Historical Archive and the Círculo de Bellas Artes de Mallorca, the Sa Nostra collection and other public and private collections.
