Spanish school of the XIX century.
"Virgin and Child".
Carved and polychrome wood.
It shows wear, lack of polychrome and damage to the wood (breakage in the fingers and cracking in the back). With Repainting.
Measurements: 68 x 23 x 23 cm.

The carving that we present here is an iconography that combines the power and divine grace with the happy innocence and humble condition of God incarnate. The presence of the Virgin, although none of the figures establishes a contact between them, transmits the link between Jesus and his mother, which allows Mary to act as an intermediary, as an advocate of the human race before Christ at the moment of the Final Judgment.
