Manuel Luque has made numerous commissions for private devotion of virgins in their dedication Dolorosa, as the one that concerns us here, being one of the typologies in which he is more appreciated. The face seems to want to come to life, such is the emotional intensity it transmits. After studying at the Onésimo Redondo Labor University in Córdoba, at the end of the 80's Manuel Luque enrolled at the Mateo Inurria Art School, specializing in wood carving. During his time at the art school, he was taught by his modeling teacher Manuel Vela, a sculptor from Cordoba. At the end of his studies he completed his training as an apprentice in the studio of the Cordovan sculptors Antonio Bernal Redondo and Francisco Romero Zafra.
