Federico Molina

Molina began his training when he was only nine years old at the Academy of Fine Arts in Barcelona, where he was a disciple of Vicente Climent. He then furthered his studies in Paris and through travels in Belgium, Holland, Italy, North Africa and America, holding solo exhibitions with great success, such as those held in Nice (1928), Paris (1933) and Havana (1933). In Spain he made his individual debut in the Pallarés galleries in Barcelona in 1942. He exhibited in Madrid, at the Círculo de Bellas Artes, in 1945. However, he did not participate in any National or International exhibition. In 1955 he took up residence in Mallorca, where he held several personal exhibitions in the Costa galleries, his last exhibition being the one organized by the Rubines gallery in 1978. Molina enjoyed a wide prestige among critics and the public, and opted for a figurative painting of broad subject matter, which included portraiture, religious painting, costumbrista paintings of gypsies, flowers, animals, etc.. He was also the author of an important mural in the Círculo Mallorquín. He is represented in the Museum of Santa Maria de Ripoll, as well as in important private collections.
