After Vicente Carducho

Spanish school of the 19th century. After VICENTE CARDUCHO (Florence, 1576-Madrid, 1638).

It presents some faults in the painting and some holes.
Measurements: 78 x 67 cm.

In the present canvas is faithfully reproduced the homonymous work made by Vicente Carducho in 1632, today preserved in the Prado Museum. "According to tradition, Odon of Novara (died in 1200) died at the age of one hundred in the Carthusian monastery of Tagliacozzo (Italy), where he spent his last days maintaining a model life of asceticism. At the moment of his death, the risen Jesus descended into his cell to welcome his soul. It is one of the highest quality works in the series, which includes a beautiful still life on the right and some magnificent portraits. Kneeling, and from right to left, we see the painter himself, Lope de Vega, and probably the prior of El Paular, Juan de Baeza (Text extracted from Ruiz, L. in: La recuperación de El Paular, 2013, pp. 185-190)", states the Spanish art gallery.
