In this representation of the biblical theme of the Annunciation, the archangel Gabriel appears to the Virgin perched on a fluffy cloud and pointing with his right hand to the Holy Spirit. God the Father and three seraphim complete, together with the Virgin, the figures in the painting. The interior of the Marian apartments are humble, almost Spartan, and are governed by the compositional symmetry granted by two sturdy pillars.
