Due to the signature it is probable that the signature is that of Captain Eduardo Moreno Esteller, a Spanish soldier who was stationed in several places. Places that he used to immortalize with his drawings. The work responds to a need to show the customs and popular characteristics that describe the society. During the 19th century, beginning of the 20th century, costumbrismo was an artistic trend, which achieved great recognition. A genre in which popular types and attitudes, behaviors, values and habits common to a concrete group of the population, region or class are described by means of the description, satirical, nostalgic or narrative, of the environments, customs, dresses, parties and entertainments, traditions, trades and representative types of a society. The idea of costumbrismo arose from an attempt to understand reality, or more precisely, reality understood in a particular way, from a specific point of view.
