Drawer, engraver and painter, Alexandre Cardunets was born into a humble family, and began his training very young, as an apprentice in a lithography workshop. Shortly after, he began his regular studies at the Escuela de La Lonja, where he was a disciple of the engraver Miquel Campí, and also attended courses at the Círculo Artístico de Barcelona. Subsequently, he expanded his training in various European countries. He was co-founder of the Amigos del Arte Viejo, president of the Círculo Artístico (1921) and of the Fomento de las Artes Decorativas (1923). His drawings, in pencil or charcoal, as well as the lithographs of views of the port of Andratx and old Barcelona, published in "Barcelona Artística Monumental" (1930). He also made views of the cities of Toledo and Madrid. Throughout his career Cardunets also cultivated the illustration of books and posters, and stood out as a former bookseller for the quality of his compositions and his creativity. Currently there is a room dedicated to his work in the Museum of History of the City of Barcelona.
