This ceiling lamp is an outstanding model of the famous designer Gaetano Sciolari, because it brings together all his research: futuristic aesthetics, conceptual hybridizations between Art Deco and Space Age... The tubular lampshades cascade down three levels, and its zenithal view offers the image of an attractive minimalist rose window.

After an initial training as a film director, followed by a degree in architecture, Gaetano Sciolari took over the management of the family business in Rome, Sciolari Illuminazione, after the death of his father in 1949. The brand began selling lamps in Europe and the United States, and during the 1950s Gaetano began designing for the Italian lighting brand Stilnovo, creating his most famous pieces. His luxurious and futuristic multi-light chandeliers create interesting optical effects and combine shiny and satin metals, such as brass and chromed metal; they became increasingly popular in the United States during the 1970s, years in which Sciolari's style adopted an aesthetic inspired by Art Deco and the Space Age. Founder and president of the Italian Lighting Systems Manufacturers Association, Sciolari is now highly sought after for his collectibles, including the Habitat, Cultura and Futura series.
