The Thousand and One Nights is perhaps the most famous collection of traditional medieval tales in the world. The core of the stories is formed by the "Hazar afsana", which in Persian translates as the "Thousand Legends". This Persian book was compiled and translated into Arabic in the 9th century and later, probably in the 14th century, the story of Scheherezade was added, which serves as a thread to the others and is now the best known. It is a book full of fantasy, eroticism, which describes in a somewhat distorted way the Indian, Persian, Syrian, Chinese and Egyptian world. Famous stories such as Aladdin and his wishing lamp, Sinbad the sailor, Ali Baba and the forty thieves, etc. are part of this compilation. Salvador Dalí created 50 watercolors to illustrate this text, which are reproduced in this edition respecting the original measurements.
