Bails is perhaps the most important Spanish mathematician of the late eighteenth century. He wrote some Principles of Mathematics in three volumes (1776) and especially some extensive Elements of Mathematics (eleven volumes, between 1772 and 1783, reprinted later in 1790), in which he includes infinitesimal calculus and analytical geometry.
