In these canvases, of romantic character, the painter constructs two landscapes of clear Central European influence, something that in fact was frequent within the Andalusian landscape of the XIX century. Thus, the painters of this school built a new type of landscape, within the Romantic context, deeply influenced by the Dutch Baroque landscape, especially its Italianizing current. Thus, we see landscapes flooded with golden light, warm tones and a very nuanced work of light and shadow, with small costumbrist figures perfectly integrated into the environment. Historians relate the origins of romanticism in Spain to the liberal movement that developed after the death of Ferdinand VII in 1833. The first romantic focus arose in Andalusia, like that liberal movement, having as its center the cities of Cadiz and Seville. From there, the movement would radiate towards the rest of the peninsula, forming two other nuclei around the most important cities of the country, Madrid and Barcelona. Within Spanish Romantic painting, three main trends can be distinguished: landscape painting, genre painting and academic or official romanticism.
