The portrait in the foreground of a spiritual leader of the Jewish community that interprets the sacred texts appears imposing before us. The fact that he rests his head on his left hand in a sorrowful gesture does not detract from the authority of his presence. His serious gesture and his concentrated gaze with crystalline eyes speak to us of his power and authority within the Jewish church.
