In this work the author uses a language that oscillates between figurative and abstract, based on irregular geometry, with an organic character both in its layout and colors. It is an open style, whose basic characteristic is the conception of the pictorial surface as a whole, as an open field, without limits and without hierarchy. Thus, as we see here, the pictorial forms are the result of a thoughtful composition and experimentation, with an image of gestural character, are not limited to a composition but go beyond, indicating to the viewer that it is about forms, ideas or suggestions that go beyond the boundaries of the purely pictorial.
Todd Arsenault received an MFA from Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, Rhode Island, in 2003 and a BA from Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, in 1999. He has participated in numerous exhibitions, including The Vortex is Obscene at Galería Fúcares in Madrid, Spain (2010); A World in Motion at W.52 Gallery in New York (2007); New York Style at Angell Gallery in Toronto (2006); and Todd Arsenault at Massimo Audiello Gallery in New York (2005). He lives in Pennsylvania, where he is an associate professor of Studio Art at Dickinson College. Today his work is divided between different centers of artistic interest and private collections.
