Laura Canal is an abstract artist from Barcelona. With previous training in figurative art, in 2018 she studied at the Barcelona Academy of Art. Subsequently, her interest drifted towards abstract art, looking for a way to express her emotions in a freer way and experiment with different materials. Her works are a constant experiment with herself, a dialogue between chaos and clarity, aggressiveness and delicacy, passion and sadness. For Canal, painting is an act of intimacy, vulnerability and courage. Art is a way to give space to emotions, to dissolve them on the canvas, to reflect and not only open the door to feelings, but also to feel them. Canal believes that art should always move the viewer and seeks to evoke a certain surprise in the observer, as if he/she were encountering a stranger; sometimes, that stranger is oneself. Laura currently works as an artist from her studio in Mataró, Barcelona.
