The Sociedad Vinícola de La Rioja Alta was founded in 1890 in the Barrio de la Estación in Haro. In these early years, the Frenchman Vigier was hired to take charge of the technical management, and soon the winemaking process which today we call classic was mastered. In 1891, the company was renamed La Rioja Alta. Today the company continues to defend the initial idea of its foundation, jealously preserving the creative and enterprising spirit of its founders.
