BID HISTORY

DESCRIPTION

Ceiling lamp; NOVERDY, Dijon, France, c. 1930.
Mold pressed and carved glass.
Measurements: 11 x 38 x 38 cm (ceiling).
In the 1920s, Jean Noverdy, a pupil of Mr. Dubret, created his own glassworks located in Dijon, 17, Place Bossuet. To make the most of electric lighting, he designed lamps with shades mostly made of glass with two layers between which he sprayed colored enamels to give a marbled appearance. Molded glass vases and shades were also part of his production. He used the same techniques used by Daum Frères, André Delatte and Muller Freres in this period.Between 1926 and 1928, he was present at the Salon de la Société des Artistes Français in Paris.
