French school of the late eighteenth century.

It has slight flaws in the polychrome.
Measurements: 120 x 96 cm; 128 x 104 cm (frame).

In this mythological scene Mercury (who carries the caduceus and the quiver) frees the god of love, who is tied to a tree. The scene takes place in a lush landscape in which stands out a stone fountain worked in the classical manner.
