The Christian tradition has considered Joachim and Anna as the progenitors of Mary. These names are taken from the Protoevangelium of James, one of the most famous and ancient apocryphal gospels. Due to its technical and stylistic characteristics, the work can be framed within the framework of the Spanish school of the 18th century.
