Drawer, painter and engraver, Joan Cruspinera painted in Paris with a scholarship from the French Institute of Barcelona, and worked in London, New York and Berlin thanks to the scholarships granted by the Círculo de Bellas Artes of Madrid, the Spanish-American Committee of Madrid and the Goethe Institut of Barcelona. Between 1973 and 1974 he studied engraving at the Academy of Fine Arts in Salzburg, and then completed his training in Paris, at the Friedlander workshop and the Cité Internationale des Arts. In 1987 he became internationally known with his first exhibition in New York, and since then he has shown his work in Europe and the United States. In 1996 and 2000 he was awarded the National Engraving Prize.
