Basque painter with whose renovating language, of colorist expression and synthesis postcezanniana forms, has given new life to the old genres of the still life and the landscape. Son of the prestigious painter Gaspar Montes Iturrioz, who taught him the secrets of art, extending his studies in Madrid and Paris. In 1959 he won the First Prize in the Christmas Contest held in San Sebastian and the Second Prize in the National Painting Contest of 1962. He spent a period of his life studying in Brussels. His exhibitions have been numerous, highlighting those held in Oslo (Norway), Irun, San Sebastian, Bilbao, Madrid, Barcelona, Zaragoza, Iruña, Hondarribia, Marbella, etc.. He also exhibited in Paris in 1957. His works are exhibited in museums such as San Telmo in Donostia, and the Museum of Modern Art in Bilbao.
