Fragmentary sculpture carved in alabaster. Head of a bearded character wearing a cap. It emphasizes the quality of the carving, appreciable in the work of the locks of hair that have been elaborated in deep incisions, chiseled one by one. The expression of the face is naturalistic. The slightly drooping eyelids, the arched eyebrows and the soft wrinkles compose an expression full of feeling. It probably represents a religious character.
In Catalonia and Aragon, Renaissance sculpture was influenced by the Italian Quatrocento, in terms of idealization of the figures and interest in anatomy. However, due to the persistence of Catalan Gothic, the Renaissance movement developed within its own unique local criteria.
