Measurements: 40 x 37 cm; 49 x 45 cm (frame).
Neil MacPherson studied at the Glasgow School of Art from 1974 to 1978, and then at Jordanhill College of Education from 1978 to 1979. MacPherson's paintings are inspired by the changing seasons, history and folklore of the dramatic Highland landscape. MacPherson's first solo exhibition at the Compass Gallery was in 1986, and he exhibits regularly at the Royal Scottish Academy in Edinburgh and the Royal Glasgow Institute.He has won numerous awards, including the Shell Expro Award from the Aberdeen Artists Society (twice); the Young Artist from the Royal Scottish Academy; the Premier Award from the Royal Overseas League Commonwealth Exhibition; the Mayfest Award from Scotland on Sunday (twice); the London Scottish Award and the London Highland Award from the Royal Scottish Academy.His work is held in numerous private and public collections in the UK and abroad, including the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art; the Scottish Parliament Collection, Edinburgh; NSW, Australia; the Glasgow Gallery of Modern Art and the Glasgow Art Gallery and Museums; the BBC; the Scottish Arts Council; the Nuffield Foundation; the McLaurin Trust and the Inverness Museum and Art Gallery.Throughout his career, MacPherson has exhibited widely in the UK, North America and Europe. Neil was elected a Fellow of the Royal Scottish Academy in 2006.
