The image presents a dark background, contrasting with the figure of Christ, which is presented on the white shroud clearly showing the wounds, with the head fallen and already dead. The position of the body of Jesus is slightly reminiscent of that shown in the well-known Yacentes of Gregorio Fernández, but it is also reminiscent (especially in the detail of placing the hand on the hip) of the carving attributed to Sánchez Barba from the Church of Carmen in Málaga (there is another attributed to the master in the Parish of San José in Madrid), to cite an example of a really frequent iconography in the Spanish school of the seventeenth century.
