This work collects a chapter of the life of Christ not very common in the history of art, since this passage was not usually represented. The work is inspired by the writings of the evangelists Mark and Matthew, who mention that once Jesus overcame the temptations in the desert, he was assisted by the angels who fed him. The image is used as for example in this case as a symbol of the Eucharist. The work presents us with monumental figures, the landscape is barely visible since it is submerged in the glory from which the angel descends, who in turn carries the cross of Christ's martyrdom, thus anticipating and warning Jesus, who, kneeling in supplication, opens his hands in an attitude of prayer towards the angel who offers him a cup to quench his thirst.
