In this work we can see different dominant elements typical of optical art such as straight or sinuous parallel lines, marked chromatic hallmarks, changes in shape or size and the combination or repetition of shapes or figures. The work encourages the viewer to actively participate by moving or moving around in order to fully grasp the optical effect. The work of Pedro Blas is a tribute to his first homeland, overturns and names the kinetic, but from the perspective of the traveler. He starts from Venezuela's own kinetic tradition, inspired by artists such as Cruz Díez. However, the use of new technologies has helped him to distance himself from tradition, creating a new and personal path.
Pedro Blas is a Venezuelan Hispanic artist who graduated from the Institute of Design in Caracas in 1993. As a graphic designer, painter and photographer he uses computer technology for his high artistic expression and as a tool for his work. His art reflects architecture, nature and impressions of his travels and daily life. At first Pedro Blas set up his own graphic studio, while devoting hours to photography, color behavior and two-dimensional form. Later he moved to Switzerland and Barcelona for 20 years. Places where he had the opportunity to work in lighting development for a decade. Currently Pedro Blas lives and works between Switzerland, Barcelona (Spain) and Venezuela.
