Juan Cayetano Losada was a liturgist, humanist and pedagogue. He began his formation with the Piarists and later studied Latin and philosophy in Cantabria, while he studied theology in Madrid. In 1828 he moved to Rome but returned in 1830. He wrote on Latin, History, Geography, Chronology, Poetics and Arithmetic. Fernando VII named him commissioner of Crusade and censor of religious and civil books, and Pope Gregory XVI, in 1845, named him apostolic commissary, to restore the Order in all Spain.
