Antonio Capmany Surís y de Montpaláu (Barcelona, 1742 - Cadiz, 1813). Spanish military man, philosopher, historian, economist and politician. He was a member of the Cortes de Cádiz.

Code of Maritime Customs of Barcelona, commonly known as the Book of the Consulate. It contains a collection of laws and statutes, from the XIII to the XVII century, related to naval commerce ordinances. This work is considered the greatest classic on the economic history of Barcelona. It includes the Libro del Consulado del Mar, a compendium of maritime law that governed trade in the Mediterranean for centuries. Of Valencian origin, it was translated into many languages and has served as the basis for international maritime legislation.
