Manuel Valbuena was a Latinist, translator and lexicographer whose most important work is the Diccionario Universal Latino -español, which was first published in 1793. He worked as General Archivist of the Council of the Indies in Seville (the overseas archive) and later at the Court of Madrid, becoming a professor at the Royal Studies of San Isidro (Madrid).
