Jerónimo Cortés (ca. 1560 - ca. 1615) Valencian mathematician, astronomer, naturalist and compiler, author of several works of vulgarization of mathematics, physiology and zoology. This was his most popular work, despite having some problems with the Inquisition, going through some 70 editions cited by Palau (Simón Díaz cites 53, and there are others in WorldCat, the CCPB and REBIUN), as well as others published in Portugal, France, Italy and England. In addition to its formulas for fixing on which day each date of each year falls in perpetuity, it offers information on the labors of the field of each month (with beautiful and crude woodcut illustrations; on the planets and their influences, health advice, signs of earthquakes, pestilences, weather forecasts,
