Drawer, caricaturist, painter, illustrator, art critic and writer, Feliu Elias was formed in Barcelona, in the Artistic Circle and in the one of Sant Lluc. He began his career collaborating with various Barcelona magazines, until 1908, when he founded and directed the weekly humor magazine "Papitu". In 1911 he was forced to flee to Paris to avoid a sentence for having published some drawings in his magazine, although he continued to collaborate with "Picarol" and "La rialla" from there. In 1914 he returned to Barcelona and founded the "Revista nova", while continuing to publish drawings in other magazines such as "Virolet" and "El borinot". He also collaborated in prestigious French magazines, such as "Paris journal", "Paris midi", "L'assiete au beurre" and "Formes". During these years, his caricatures favorable to the Allied cause of the First World War earned him the Grand Cross of the French Legion of Honor. He is currently represented at MACBA.
