Cruz Solís was professor of the Faculty of Fine Arts (Complutense University of Madrid), director of the Central Institute of Restoration and head of the sculpture department of the Institute of Conservation and Restoration of Works of Art, which was renamed in 1985 Institute of Cultural Heritage of Spain. In Madrid, the Cruz Solís brothers revolutionized both the technique and the criteria with which sculptures were restored, applying protocols that have survived into the 21st century and are studied in various Spanish faculties of Fine Arts. To them we owe the creation of the Andalusian Institute of Historical Heritage (IAPH).
