DESCRIPTION

Windmills & Elkins grandfather clock. London, George III, 18th century.
Wood decorated with painted and lacquered Japanese scenes.
Presents old xylophages not active.
Marks of use, some flaws in the wood. It needs to be reworked.
Lack of polychrome.
Measurements: 250 x 45 x 22 cm.

Clock "longcase" or high box in lacquered wood whose body has very balanced proportions as it was usual in the time of George III (1760-1820). This body has oriental style court scenes arranged: equestrian or hunting parties, ladies in their gardens and domestic environments, alternating with floral compositions and the representation of wild animals.
The case is topped by a temple-shaped crest, also of Japanese inspiration, with protruding pinnacles. The dial, flanked by columns, has Roman numerals, with an auxiliary dial at twelve o'clock and a calendar box.
