In this work, Cugat shows his own vision of the Spanish monarchy, not only of King Juan Carlos. This is because the figure of the monarch, who is accompanied by several leaders, located in the right area of the composition. These, who present both stripes, alluding to their social position, as well as diversity in terms of race, are shown by Cugat, much smaller than the king.
A draftsman and musician, Xavier Cugat lived for a long time in the United States, where he carried out a very important work as an orchestra conductor in the field of light music. Between 1925 and 1928 he collaborated as a cartoonist with the American newspaper "Los Angeles Times". He held his first individual exhibition in Barcelona in 1972, an exhibition of his famous caricatures of famous people. Since then he held personal exhibitions both in Spain and in the United States.
